What it doesn't do yet
Most product sites only tell you what a tool does. We think what it doesn’t do yet is just as useful to know before you switch — so here’s our current gap list, in plain terms, with no spin. Several items from the first version of this post have since shipped: cURL, OpenAPI and Postman import, {{ autocomplete, private variables and the command palette are all in the app today.
No Windows installer right now
Windows builds shipped in September and are paused while we rework that pipeline. Current releases are Linux (.deb) and macOS (.dmg). The downloads section has a waitlist for Windows.
Import covers Postman, OpenAPI and cURL — not Insomnia or Bruno
Bring in Postman collections and environments, OpenAPI 3.x (JSON or YAML) or a pasted cURL command. Insomnia and Bruno files have no one-click path yet; go through Postman or OpenAPI as an intermediate format.
HTTP only: no gRPC, WebSocket or SSE client
The request editor is HTTP/HTTPS. Server-Sent Events and a WebSocket tab for your own endpoints are next once HTTP is solid; gRPC, a dedicated GraphQL editor and HTTP/3 are further out.
Advanced roles, SSO and audit logs
Four roles (Owner, Admin, Editor, Viewer) are what exists. Custom roles, SSO and audit logs are planned for Pro and not available yet.
The command-line runner isn’t a download yet
reqbox run executes an exported collection in CI with JUnit and JSON reports. It is built and tested, but we haven’t published the binaries — for now it ships only as a build target of the desktop repo.
None of this is a secret roadmap we’re hiding — it’s tracked openly in our own backlog, and we’d rather you find out here than discover a missing feature mid-migration. If any of these are the one thing blocking you from trying ReqBox, that’s useful for us to know too.
